Cavendish PTA organises non-profit events with the purpose of bringing parents, guardians and carers into the school and involving them in the school community and raise vital funds for Cavendish Community Primary School in West Didsbury.

Who are the PTA?

Cavendish PTA is a registered charity and works solely to raise funds for Cavendish Community Primary School. The funds are used to provide enrichment activities and to purchase additional resources which are not available within the school budget.

Cavendish PTA is run on a voluntary basis by a small team of committee members and volunteers. All parents, carers, guardians and staff of the school are automatically members of Cavendish PTA.

Why do we fundraise?

The school only gets a limited amount of funding from the government and so the Cavendish PTA acts to supplement this by organising fundraising events. We also run additional events to help the wider community including foodbank collections.

How do we fundraise?

Cavendish PTA organise events to be enjoyed by the children and their families, as well as the wider community. These range from discos and film nights, to our summer and Christmas fairs and our famous bonfire night display.

They are organised by the PTA committee and are run with the support of a wonderful team of volunteers.

Why do we need volunteers?

Without volunteers we simply can’t run our events. Whether it’s baking for our cake stall, stewarding a disco, or helping us pack popcorn and sweets, every contribution is valued.

How are the funds raised allocated?

School staff make a ‘pitch’ to the PTA at meetings citing the reason for the request(s), benefits and costs. The PTA members who are present at the meeting then vote and make a decision based on the majority vote, or they may request further information. If the vote is carried, the PTA then make a donation to the school. All votes carry an equal weight. In the event of a tied vote, the Chair will make the final decision.

  • “The Cavendish PTA is BRILLIANT and extremely important to the school - they raise impressive amounts of money (that goes on the children’s learning, wellbeing and experiences), they create collaborative community links and they also put on events that are wonderful for all the family!”
